Best Western Carlos V, Madrid

There's an old-fashioned air about this traditional-style hotel. The bedrooms are decorated with dark wooden furniture, the floors are carpeted and the colours are sober. The staff are both formal and friendly at the same time. It's well situated if you want to spend your time walking around the old town and the historic sights. Even though it's on a pedestrian street with no traffic in between Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía, it's not very peaceful because of all the noisy shoppers heading up and down Calle Preciados.
